Internship: Nutrition & Recipe Development 🍓🥤

Help us create the flavours people can’t stop talking about. One cup at a time.

At De Smoothiemachine, we turn real frozen ingredients and smart tech into a fresh smoothie in under a minute. Now we’re building our next generation of recipes, and we’re looking for a dietetics student who wants to shape what thousands of people drink every month. 🚀

You’ll join a small and driven team and work directly with the founders and our production partner. No big corporate layers. Your recipe goes from test blend to the freezer in the supermarket, and you’ll see people buy it.

Since our launch in May we’re live at more than 25 locations in the Netherlands and Belgium, including Jumbo, Albert Heijn, Pathé, Spar, Shell, Amaze, Carrefour, EG Group and Yatta. And we’re just getting started.

🍍 About us

De Smoothiemachine is a fully automated smoothie bar powered by real frozen ingredients. Each cup is filled with frozen fruit, vegetables, protein or even iced coffee. The QR code on the cup tells the machine exactly how to blend it. The concept went viral in Japan through 7‑Eleven and we brought it to the Netherlands.

🧪 What you’ll be doing

• Developing new recipes, from fruit blends to milk‑based smoothies, protein shakes and milkshakes
• Balancing taste, texture and nutrition, with a sharp eye on sugar, fibre, protein and Nutri‑Score
• Testing your recipes in the machine and fine‑tuning how each cup blends
• Calculating nutritional values and checking label info and claims
• Turning real customer feedback into better recipes
• Working with our producer to bring new flavours into production

🙋 You are

• A student in Nutrition & Dietetics or a related field
• Curious about food product development
• Precise with numbers and creative with flavours
• Happy to taste ten versions of the same smoothie to find the perfect one 😋
• Structured, proactive and good at documenting your tests
• (Bonus) Experience with nutrition calculation tools or EU labelling rules

🎓 What you’ll learn

• How a recipe goes from idea to retail shelf
• How regulations and Nutri‑Score shape product choices
• How to test and improve using real sales and customer data
• What it’s like to work in a fast‑moving startup

📋 Practical info

Location: The Hague or Apeldoorn, with some flexibility. Duration: minimum 3 months. Dutch is not required and international students are welcome.
