Dietitian

About the role

Responsible for providing professional nutrition and dietary care to patients by assessing their nutritional needs, developing appropriate meal plans, and ensuring that meals comply with prescribed therapeutic diets and relevant healthcare standards.

Key responsibilities

1. Conduct nutritional assessments of patients and identify their dietary requirements based on medical conditions, nutritional status, and individual needs.
2. Develop, implement, and monitor appropriate nutrition care plans and therapeutic diets for patients.
3. Review patients’ dietary requirements and recommend suitable meal modifications in accordance with medical advice and clinical guidelines.
4. Collaborate with doctors, nurses, kitchen personnel, and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate nutritional care.
5. Monitor patients’ nutritional progress and evaluate the effectiveness of prescribed dietary interventions.
6. Provide nutrition counselling and education to patients and their families on healthy eating habits and disease-specific dietary management.
7. Ensure meals are prepared and served according to prescribed diets, portion sizes, food safety requirements, and quality standards.
8. Monitor special dietary requirements, including diabetic, renal, cardiac, and other therapeutic diets, where applicable.
9. Maintain accurate patient nutrition records, dietary assessments, care plans, and relevant reports.
10. Assist in developing and reviewing menus, standard recipes, and nutritional specifications to meet patients’ dietary needs.
11. Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, food safety standards, and hospital policies.
12. Perform other duties as assigned by the management from time to time.

What we're looking for

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or an equivalent recognised qualification.
2. Registered with the relevant Malaysian regulatory body, where applicable.
3. Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is an advantage.
4. Good knowledge of clinical nutrition, therapeutic diets, and medical nutrition therapy.
5. Strong communication, interpersonal, and counselling skills.
6. Good analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
8. Willingness to travel between or provide coverage for TMC and KPJ, as required.
