digger driver/groundsman

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Digger Driver/Groundsman to join our dynamic construction team. This vital role combines skilled operation of heavy machinery with grounds maintenance responsibilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality site development. As a key team member, you will be instrumental in excavating, moving materials, and maintaining the overall safety and cleanliness of the work environment. Duties

• Operate excavators and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently to perform digging, trenching, lifting, and material movement tasks
• Maintain and inspect machinery regularly to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are met
• Assist with site preparation, including clearing debris and leveling ground surfaces
• Support the groundskeeping team by maintaining site cleanliness, removing waste, and managing site access points
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures diligently to prevent accidents or injuries on site
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to coordinate daily tasks and project timelines
• Conduct routine checks of equipment and report any mechanical issues promptly for repairs

Qualifications

• Proven mechanical knowledge with experience operating excavators or similar heavy machinery
• Valid commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Prior experience as a groundsman or in construction site maintenance is preferred
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Strong attention to safety procedures and compliance with OSHA standards
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment

Pay: £20.00-£23.00 per hour
