What they need
Digital & Automation Intern
Department: Customer Service & Logistics (CS&L) – Customer Engagement
Location: Petaling Jaya, Malaysia
Duration: 4 to 6 Months
About the Role
Are you passionate about using technology to solve real-world operational challenges? At Colgate-Palmolive, our Customer Service & Logistics (CS&L) department manages a massive, complex supply chain network.
As a Digital & Automation Intern, you will be placed directly within the Customer Engagement function under the CS&L team. Your core mission will be helping the team digitalize and automate their daily tasks, manual workflows, and reporting processes. You won't just be maintaining systems; you will act as an internal "Citizen Developer," identifying manual bottlenecks and building automated solutions that directly improve how efficiently we engage with our B2B customers and deliver our products globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Automation: Identify highly manual, repetitive tasks within the Customer Engagement workflow and develop automated solutions (using tools like Power Automate, VBA, or basic scripting) to increase efficiency and reduce manual data entry.
- Digitalizing Workflows: Transform traditional paper-based or manual tracker processes into streamlined, digital workflows that the Customer Engagement team can easily adopt.
- Data Visualization & Analytics: Design, build, and maintain dynamic BI dashboards (e.g., using DOMO, PowerBI, or Tableau) to track customer service KPIs, order fulfillment rates, and logistics data.
- Digital Transformation Projects: Assist in the end-to-end rollout of new digitalization initiatives, from process mapping and data collection to user acceptance testing (UAT) and deployment.
- Tech-to-Business Translation: Act as a bridge between technology and daily operations by training non-technical customer service and logistics coordinators on new digital tools and automated workflows.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- Familiarity with data visualization and Business Intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, DOMO).
- Basic knowledge of programming, scripting, or database querying (e.g., Python, SQL, VBA) and automation platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Automate).
- Proficient in Google Workspace (Google Sheets, Docs, Slides, Forms, etc.).
- A strong problem-solving mindset with a passion for optimizing processes and figuring out "how to make things work better."
- Excellent communication skills—specifically the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical business stakeholders.
- An interest in Supply Chain, Logistics, or FMCG operations is a strong plus.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to build and deploy actual digital solutions that will be used by a global FMCG company.
- Mentorship from experienced professionals blending operations with technology.
- A dynamic, inclusive environment where your innovative ideas are encouraged and valued.
