Digital Assets Controller

POSITION SUMMARY

The Digital Assets Controller owns the accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting for the Company’s digital asset treasury — including its digital assets, staking activity, and related on-chain transactions. Operating the crypto sub-ledger in Cryptio, this role ensures that on-chain data is completely and accurately captured, reconciled to custodians and the general ledger, and reported under U.S. GAAP with SOX-compliant controls. It is a hands-on, detail-driven position central to the integrity of the Company’s financial statements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Sub-ledger ownership: Administer the crypto sub-ledger end to end — wallet and exchange integrations, transaction classification and labeling, cost-basis tracking, journal-entry generation, and synchronization to the general ledger.
• Reconciliation: Reconcile on-chain wallet balances and activity to custodian statements, exchange records, and the GL daily/monthly; investigate and clear breaks and unclassified transactions.
• Digital asset accounting: Account for digital asset holdings, staking rewards, and gains/losses under ASU 2023-08 (fair-value measurement) and related U.S. GAAP; support fair-value marks and roll-forwards each period.
• Close & reporting: Lead the digital-asset portion of the monthly and quarterly close, including journal entries, disclosures, and supporting schedules for the 10-Q/10-K.
• Controls & audit: Maintain and evidence SOX 404 controls over digital assets, including reconciliations, IPE/system reports, access, and segregation of duties; serve as primary contact for external auditors on crypto matters.
• Cross-functional: Partner with treasury, IT, and external custodians; document processes and drive automation as the treasury and transaction volume scale.

SYSTEMS & TOOLS

• Required: Cryptio general ledger / crypto sub-ledger software — required, with demonstrated hands-on configuration and daily operation.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public-company (SEC) reporting and SOX 404 controls.
• Direct, current experience operating Cryptio (or an equivalent crypto sub-ledger such as Bitwave, Ledgible, or TaxBit) in a production close environment.
• Working knowledge of digital asset accounting under U.S. GAAP, including ASU 2023-08, staking income, and gas/transaction-fee treatment.
• Strong reconciliation discipline, control mindset, and comfort with high transaction volume and evolving guidance in a fast-moving crypto-treasury environment.
