What they need

Now Hiring: Digital Dental Technician

CAD/CAM Dentistry | 3D Printing | Milling | Digital Workflow

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Digital Dental Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of digital dentistry and be well-rounded in CAD/CAM workflows, 3D printing, milling, and dental design software.

This role requires someone who can work independently, manage digital cases from start to finish, troubleshoot technical issues, and communicate professionally with doctors and team members. We are looking for a proactive individual who takes ownership of their work, maintains an organized workflow, and understands the importance of accuracy, efficiency, and quality in dental restorations.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Dentistry & CAD/CAM

  • Process, review, and evaluate intraoral scans and digital case submissions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Work with 3Shape and other dental CAD software to support digital design and production workflows.
  • Assist with digital design and preparation of dental restorations, appliances, and other laboratory cases as needed.
  • Identify scan deficiencies, margin issues, bite discrepancies, missing information, and other potential problems before production.
  • Make appropriate recommendations to improve scan quality, case accuracy, and overall workflow efficiency.
  • Communicate directly with doctors when clarification, additional scans, or adjustments are needed.

3D Printing & Milling

  • Prepare and manage digital files for 3D printing and milling.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot dental 3D printers and milling equipment.
  • Understand printer setup, nesting, support placement, material selection, and post-processing procedures.
  • Understand milling workflows, material requirements, tool selection, and basic machine maintenance.
  • Monitor production quality and ensure that completed work meets established standards.
  • Troubleshoot common equipment, software, and production issues independently.

Digital Case Management

  • Manage incoming digital cases through various dental portals and practice-management platforms.
  • Review case prescriptions, doctor instructions, patient information, and production requirements.
  • Maintain accurate digital records, organize files, and track cases through the production process.
  • Follow established workflows, prioritize deadlines, and communicate potential delays or issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with doctors, laboratory personnel, and other team members to ensure smooth case progression.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle patient information responsibly.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience in digital dentistry, dental laboratory technology, or a related CAD/CAM production environment.
  • Working knowledge of 3Shape and general dental CAD software.
  • Familiarity with dental intraoral scanners, digital impressions, STL files, and other common digital file formats.
  • Experience with dental 3D printing and milling workflows.
  • Familiarity with dental case portals, digital prescription systems, and general dental software platforms.
  • Strong understanding of digital workflow troubleshooting and quality control.
  • Ability to review digital scans critically and recognize potential issues before production.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software, equipment, and systems quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with doctors.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.

Work Style & Professional Expectations

We are looking for someone who is dependable, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Independence and accountability: Takes ownership of assigned cases and responsibilities, follows through on tasks, and knows when to escalate an issue.
  • Problem-solving: Uses sound judgment to troubleshoot technical challenges and identify practical solutions rather than waiting for direction on every issue.
  • Organization: Keeps digital files, case information, equipment, and work areas organized and maintains an orderly workflow.
  • Communication: Provides timely updates, asks questions when necessary, and communicates clearly and professionally with doctors and colleagues.
  • Initiative: Identifies opportunities to improve workflows, reduce errors, and increase efficiency.
  • Time management: Prioritizes work effectively, meets deadlines, and manages multiple cases without sacrificing quality.
  • Attention to detail: Reviews work carefully and understands that small digital errors can affect the final clinical result.
  • Adaptability: Is comfortable learning new technologies, adjusting to changing priorities, and working in a technology-driven environment.
  • Teamwork: Works collaboratively with the team while remaining confident and productive when working independently.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, discretion, a positive attitude, and respect for patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a dental laboratory or digital dental production environment.
  • Experience communicating directly with dentists regarding scans, case requirements, and recommended corrections.
  • Familiarity with multiple dental CAD/CAM systems, printers, milling machines, and production materials.
  • Experience managing cases across multiple dental portals or digital platforms.
  • A strong understanding of restorative dentistry and how digital design and production decisions affect the final outcome.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a well-rounded digital technician who combines technical ability with sound judgment, initiative, and professionalism. The ideal candidate does not simply process files or operate machines—they understand the digital workflow, recognize potential problems, communicate solutions, and take responsibility for moving cases forward efficiently.

If you are technically capable, organized, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of your work in a fast-paced digital dental environment, we would love to hear from you.
