With a strong digital presence, News Alert operates exclusively online, leveraging modern web technologies and multimedia tools to provide real-time updates, breaking news, in-depth reports, and exclusive interviews.

The platform offers extensive coverage of local, national, and international news. Key areas include politics, business, technology, entertainment, sports, and human interest stories. Its core mission is to inform, engage, and empower its audience through fact-based journalism and thoughtful analysis.

Job Purpose

The Digital News Creator will be the driving force behind "News Alert." This is a hybrid field-and-desk role for a sharp, tech-savvy individual who can source breaking news, conduct field reporting, and independently edit engaging video and text content for our digital platforms. The ideal candidate has an eye for factual storytelling, handles high-pressure deadlines with ease, and possesses the technical skills to produce ready-to-publish news packages.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Field Reporting & News Gathering

• Sourcing and pitching fresh, impactful news stories, breaking news alerts, and local community updates.
• Conducting on-the-scene reporting, pieces-to-camera (PTCs), and interviews with eyewitnesses, officials, or community members.
• Capturing high-quality visual assets (video footage, b-roll, and photographs) using smartphones, DSLRs, and mobile microphone setups.
• Verifying information and cross-checking facts from multiple sources to maintain journalistic integrity and prevent misinformation.
• Mobile Journalism (MoJo): Utilizing smartphones, wireless mics, and basic stabilizer gear to capture crisp video footage and high-quality b-roll independently in the field.

Video Editing & Content Production

• Editing raw field footage into polished news packages using industry-standard editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, VN Editor).

• Adding engaging digital elements such as tickers, breaking news templates, lower-thirds, captions, subtitles, and royalty-free background scores.

• Integrating modern visual hooks, aesthetic text overlays, tickers, background tracks, and interactive captions optimized for the first 3 seconds of user scrolling.

• Structuring short-form and long-form video layouts tailored perfectly to our target channels (e.g., vertical reels/shorts vs. horizontal updates).

• Writing sharp, error-free news scripts, voiceovers, headlines, and engaging captions in the preferred local language.

• Designing eye-catching thumbnails and social media graphics to drive high click-through rates.

Job Specifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or equivalent practical media experience.

• Experience: 1–3 years of proven experience in digital journalism, mobile reporting, or social media news creation. A strong portfolio showing both on-camera reporting and self-edited videos is mandatory.

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in mobile/desktop video editing suites (CapCut, Premiere Pro, InShot, etc.).
  • Strong photography and mobile videography skills (understanding lighting, framing, and clean audio capture).
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva or Photoshop) for creating news banners.

• Language Skills: Professional fluency in Urdu (spoken and written for scripting/reporting). Knowledge of Punjabi or regional languages is highly advantageous.

• Mobility: Must possess a valid driving license and personal transport (such as a motorbike) for rapid field deployment to cover breaking news.
