Hello Flamingo is an award-winning design and manufacturing company based in Newhaven, specialising in creating exciting, high-quality displays, installations and environments for leading retail brands.

Due to continued growth, we’re looking for an experienced Print Operator / Artworker to join our busy production team.

This is a hands-on role for someone with strong artwork and print production experience who enjoys working in a creative, fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with our Designers, Project Managers and Production team, taking artwork from supplied files and concepts through to print-ready production and finished graphics.

We’re looking for someone who combines technical print knowledge with a great eye for detail, can confidently manage their own workload and takes pride in producing work to a consistently high standard.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and checking artwork files ready for print and production.
• Creating artwork proofs for client approval.
• Editing, amending and imposing artwork to supplied specifications and guidelines.
• Operating and monitoring wide-format and flatbed printing equipment.
• Operating laminators and other print-finishing equipment.
• Laminating, weeding, trimming and preparing graphics ready for installation.
• Applying vinyl and graphics to a variety of materials and substrates.
• Working with cutter guides, colour management and different print processes.
• Checking artwork for potential issues and resolving these before production.
• Carrying out quality checks throughout the print and finishing process.
• Ensuring finished work meets the required specification, colour, finish and quality standards.
• Working closely with Designers, Project Managers, Production staff and installers to ensure projects run smoothly.
• Managing multiple projects and deadlines within a fast-paced production environment.
• Troubleshooting artwork and production issues and finding practical solutions.
• Maintaining an organised, clean and efficient print and production workspace.
• Looking for opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and minimise material wastage.
• Keeping up to date with developments in print processes, materials and production technologies.
• Supporting colleagues and contractors with print-related tasks, guidance and training where required.

About You

We’re looking for someone with strong practical print experience who is equally comfortable working with artwork on screen and getting hands-on in production.

You will ideally have:

• At least 5 years' experience in a print production, print operator, artworker or similar role.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Excellent knowledge of preparing artwork and files for print.
• Hands-on experience with wide-format and flatbed printing.
• Experience with print finishing, including laminating, weeding, trimming and preparing graphics for installation.
• A strong understanding of printing onto different materials and substrates.
• Good knowledge of colour management and print production processes.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• A proactive approach and the confidence to work independently using your own initiative.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider creative and production team.
• A practical, adaptable and problem-solving mindset.
• A willingness to learn, develop your skills and contribute ideas to improve the department.
• A flexible approach during particularly busy production periods.
