What they need
Digital Print Process Engineer – Color & Inkjet Technology
BHS Corrugated North America is looking for a Digital Print Process Engineer to serve as a technical expert across our growing Digital Print operation.
This isn't a production management or traditional maintenance role. We're looking for someone who understands the science behind the print—color management, prepress, RIP workflows, printheads, ink, substrates, and how they all work together.
If you're the person people call when the file looks right, the printer is running, but the print still isn't right, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Do
- Troubleshoot complex print-quality, color, prepress, PDF/X, and RIP workflow issues
- Create, implement, and optimize ICC color profiles
- Perform printer calibration and characterization using G7, GRACoL, Fogra, and ISO 12647
- Troubleshoot color consistency, banding, mottling, nozzle deviations, rendering, transparency, and overprint issues
- Analyze printhead performance, ink behavior, and substrate interaction
- Use spectrophotometers and color QC systems to evaluate print performance
- Develop technical standards, SOPs, and best practices
- Train onsite supervisors, technicians, and operators
- Partner with Engineering, Product Management, and R&D to drive process and equipment improvements
What We're Looking For
Strong candidates will have experience with several of the following:
- Industrial inkjet or digital printing
- Color management and ICC profiling
- Advanced prepress, PDF, and RIP workflows
- G7, GRACoL, Fogra and/or ISO 12647
- Spectrophotometers and color measurement
- Printheads, ink technology, and substrate behavior
- Root-cause troubleshooting of complex print-quality issues
- Variable Data Printing (VDP) is a plus
Experience in corrugated or packaging is great, but it's not required. We're also interested in candidates from commercial digital print, industrial inkjet, labels, wide-format, packaging, and other advanced digital print environments.
Your current title might be Color Management Specialist, Digital Print Applications Engineer, Print Process Engineer, Inkjet Applications Specialist, Prepress Specialist, Color Specialist, Digital Print Technical Specialist, or something similar.
The Role
This is a multi-site technical position supporting BHS Digital Printer installations. You'll work with onsite teams to solve the print problems that require deeper technical and process expertise.
Regular travel, including occasional short-notice travel, is required.
Join BHS Corrugated North America and help define the color, quality, and process standards behind the next generation of industrial digital printing.
