What they need
Champions Initiative | Remote (Home Based - from anywhere in NZ) | 10–15 hrs/week, flexible
Champions Initiative is growing fast. We are working in regions, with more Partners, more communities coming on board — and the systems holding it all together need to keep pace. That's where you come in!
The purpose of the role is to support and strengthen the digital systems that help Champions Initiative and our Partners operate safely, consistently and effectively.
Who we are
Champions Initiative partners with communities across Aotearoa to support youth-focused academies that strengthen young people and the places they live. CI exists to champion rangatahi through sport, pathways and strong community connection.
We are always striving for best practice, always asking what's actually best for young people. We keep the gold: we hold onto what works, and we're not precious about letting go of what doesn't. Everything we build is in service of one thing - young people thriving, both in the ring and in life.
Established in 2018, CI now operates across four regions, supporting communities to deliver best practice, locally led programmes. Our vision is clear: Champion young people contributing to their communities.
We live our values: We Care. We have Fun. We are Bold. We Remain.
About the role
This is a great opportunity for someone who loves to dig in, problem-solve, and keep things running efficiently in a way that actually makes sense to the people using them.
You will ensure that our digital systems are effective — our CRM, our website, our tools, our data — so Partners and our national team can trust what's in front of them and get on with the real work. This is about bringing our systems to life, so they're meaningful and practical for the work being done with young people.
You will keep abreast of our work flows, finding what's clunky, what changes would make the flows more effective, fixing what you can or working with external developers as required. You will have the ability to communicate the issues in plain language to our key users.
Key role components:
CRM & integrated systems
- Day-to-day admin, setup and troubleshooting for our CRM
- Keep data protected across all our systems
- Support any CRM changeover, working with external partners
Website & Project Management tools
- Supporting with keeping the website current and working
- Spot and set up automations that save people time
- Make sure our tools work efficiently together
Documentation & training
- Documenting flows, processes, user guides so that systems don't sit with one person
- Creating training content, including for our online learning platform
Reporting & impact
- Turn participation and outcomes data into meaningful reports
- Build dashboards for funders, the board and the team
About you
Tech-savvy - comfortable exploring new platforms and tools independently, troubleshooting issues.
Experience administering or supporting a CRM, database, or similar business system is an advantage, but not essential.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess data quality and turn data into custom reports.
Collaboration skills; listening, open-mindedness, organisation, long-term thinking, adaptability.
A genuine belief in what Champions Initiative is building.
What we offer
- Real flexibility — work from anywhere in New Zealand
- A close, fun and supportive team that celebrates success and strives for best practice.
- The chance to build systems that genuinely ripple out to communities across the country.
- The opportunity to work with well-established, fast-growing not-for-profit with a genuinely bold vision.
