What they need

Dimensional Quality Engineer — Metal Components

Location: Shelby Township, Michigan
Engagement: 90-day Potential Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $25.00–$42.00 per hour (based on proven work history)

What your day looks like

From first light on the shop floor to the final shipment, you’re the guardian of precision. You’ll move seamlessly between the quality lab and production, confirming that every metal component meets spec using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and the CMM. When an issue appears, you’ll dig in—leading root cause analysis, driving corrective and preventive actions, and tightening procedures so it doesn’t happen again.

How you make an impact

  • Verify part conformity with calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM (including complex dimensional checks).
  • Lead structured root cause analysis; develop and implement CAPAs.
  • Create, refine, and roll out quality procedures and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering to resolve issues and elevate yield and first-pass quality.
  • Audit manufacturing processes routinely to uncover and prioritize improvements.
  • Build, track, and communicate quality metrics and trend reports.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant quality standards and regulations (including IATF‑16949).
  • Coach and train production staff on inspection methods and quality best practices.
  • Own gage calibration systems and records; maintain a well-organized quality lab.

What you bring

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of hands-on quality engineering or technician experience in metal parts manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma methods, and lean tools.
  • Fluency with calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Experience with IATF‑16949 and related quality frameworks.
  • Analytical, data-driven problem solver with strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • CMM operation and programming experience is highly preferred.

Your toolkit in action

You’ll translate data from SPC charts and CMM reports into clear actions, partner with machinists and engineers to stabilize processes, and formalize improvements in work instructions. Your leadership in audits and training builds a culture of quality that shows up in every shipment.
