What they need

Make mealtimes something to look forward to!

Come and make a difference with Westgate Healthcare!
#CareWithUsAtWestgate

Do you enjoy working with people, creating a welcoming atmosphere and taking pride in the little details?

We’re looking for a friendly, caring and enthusiastic Dining Coordinator to join our team and help make mealtimes a positive and enjoyable part of our residents’ day.

At Westgate Healthcare, dining is about much more than simply serving food. It’s about choice, dignity, companionship and enjoyment. You’ll get to know our residents, understand their preferences and help create a dining experience where everyone feels comfortable, supported and valued.

If you have a can-do attitude, enjoy working as part of a team and love making a difference to people’s day, we’d love to hear from you!

About The Role

£12.71 per hour + 50p per hour weekend enhancement
38 hours per week
4 shifts over 7 days
8:00am – 6:00pm

As a Dining Coordinator, you’ll help make sure our residents have a great experience from choosing their meal right through to the last cup of tea!

Your role will include:

  • Taking residents’ meal orders and helping them make choices where needed, particularly residents living with dementia or other cognitive challenges.
  • Setting tables and creating a welcoming, comfortable and enjoyable dining environment.
  • Serving meals at the correct temperature and ensuring food is presented to a high standard.
  • Encouraging residents to enjoy their meals and offering suitable alternatives when needed.
  • Supporting residents with their individual dining preferences and requirements.
  • Delivering and collecting crockery, cutlery and other dining equipment.
  • Washing crockery, cutlery, cooking and serving utensils and kitchen equipment.
  • Keeping dining and kitchen areas clean, tidy and welcoming in line with COSHH and hygiene requirements.
  • Following all relevant health and safety, food hygiene and infection control procedures.
  • Working closely with the care team to make sure residents’ individual needs, preferences and dietary requirements are understood and supported.
  • Working closely with the Head Chef and wider team to ensure mealtimes run smoothly.
  • Carrying out other reasonable duties as requested by the Home Manager or Head Chef.

It’s about more than food...

You’ll have the opportunity to build relationships with residents and become a familiar, friendly face at mealtimes.

Whether it’s remembering that someone prefers their tea a certain way, helping a resident choose between two desserts or simply sitting down for a friendly chat, the little things can make a big difference.

About You

You don’t need to have worked in a care home before. What matters most is that you’re:

  • Friendly, approachable and genuinely enjoy working with people.
  • Caring, patient and respectful towards older people.
  • Passionate about creating a positive dining experience.
  • A great team player who enjoys working alongside care and kitchen colleagues.
  • A confident communicator who can listen and respond to residents’ needs.
  • Patient and understanding when supporting residents living with dementia or other cognitive challenges.
  • Happy to get stuck in and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Reliable, organised and able to work at pace when needed.
  • Someone with a positive can-do attitude who takes pride in their work.
