What they need
About the role
Reporting to the Hospitality & Services Manager, the Dining Service Champion plays a vital frontline role in delivering exceptional mealtime experiences. You'll set up and service dining rooms across breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea, ensuring every resident receives their meal on time, presented beautifully, and in line with their dietary needs and personal preferences.
You'll work alongside kitchen staff, care teams and fellow Dining Service Champions to keep the dining environment clean, safe, well-stocked and welcoming for residents, families and visitors.
About Rockpool Residential Aged Care
Rockpool Residential Aged Care is a boutique provider, proudly Queensland owned. We believe great careers and great care go hand in hand. Our My Day My Way model of care puts the people we care for at the centre of everything, shaping their days around their choices, not our routines.
This philosophy shapes how we work and what makes a career at Rockpool different: purpose that matters, contemporary leadership that backs you, beautiful modern homes designed for the people in them, smart technology that frees you to focus on people, and room to grow with Queensland's fastest-growing provider.
Key responsibilities include:
- Set up dining rooms for all meal services — breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea — using approved layouts and presentation standards
- Serve meals and beverages according to each resident's dietary requirements and personal preferences
- Create a welcoming dining atmosphere — from table setting to ambient touches like music and lighting
- Support room-based meal delivery using scan carts, attending to plating, covering and food handling
- Record HACCP temperatures and maintain accurate food safety documentation every shift
- Keep serveries, dishwashing areas, fridges and equipment clean and sanitised to standard
- Manage stock levels for tea/coffee trolleys and dining supplies and complete all cleaning schedules
- Collaborate with carers, chefs and the hospitality team to keep mealtimes running smoothly
Skills and experience
- A respectful, resident-centred approach to everything you do
- Good communication skills — with residents, families and your team
- Strong attention to detail around cleanliness, presentation and food safety
- Ability to follow structured workflows and adapt quickly when priorities shift
- Comfortable working under pressure across busy mealtime services
- Reliable, punctual and a genuine team player
- Experience with or exposure to aged care, dementia care or disability support highly regarded, not essential
- No formal qualifications required (essential)
- Certificate II or III in Hospitality, Aged Care or Individual Support (desirable)
- Familiarity with scan cart meal delivery systems (desirable)
