Direct Support Profession

Description

We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and responsible Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide person-centered care and daily support to individuals residing in an IRIS 1915 residential home. The DSP will assist participants in maintaining their independence, dignity, safety, and quality of life while supporting their individual goals and needs.

Responsibilities:

Assist participants with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, and household tasks as needed.

Promote independence, choice, community integration, and meaningful daily activities.

Follow each participant’s individualized service plan and provide support according to their specific needs.

Administer or assist with medications as permitted by applicable regulations, training, and agency policies.

Complete daily progress notes, medication administration records (MARs), incident reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time.

Monitor participants’ health, safety, and overall well-being and report concerns or changes promptly.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized residential environment.

Support appointments, community outings, and other activities as needed.

Communicate professionally with supervisors, healthcare providers, families, and other members of the participant’s support team.

Follow all applicable state regulations, agency policies, confidentiality requirements, and participant rights protections.

Qualifications/Education

At least 18 years or older and has a high school diploma or GED; or

Is at least 21 years of age (applicants 21+ do not have to supply a high school diploma or GED);

Has a social security number or valid work permit;

Possess a current driver’s license Current driver’s license;

Proper Vehicle Insurance Coverage.

Previous experience in caregiving, residential services, or direct support is preferred.

Reliable, patient, compassionate, and able to work independently.

Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Willingness to complete required training, background checks, and any applicable certifications.

Work Environment:

Residential setting serving individuals with varying support needs. DSPs are expected to provide respectful, individualized support while maintaining compliance with applicable program requirements and agency policies.

Training/Experience:

Requires related experience.

CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred not required. Milestones offers in-house training)

Requires job and company related training including mandated crisis prevention, medication administration training and all appropriate training through the College of Direct Support.
