Direct Support Professional - All Shift SPECIFIC HOURS

We are seeking experienced, compassionate, and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support an adult with severe autism and significant behavioral needs. The individual is enrolled in the Self-Determination Program through Dromen and is a 2024 graduate of Portview Preparatory (Ontario Campus).

Prior group home experience is required. Applicants must be comfortable working with severe behaviors, providing personal care, and following established behavioral and safety protocols.

The individual currently receives 2:1 staffing support, with an increase to 3:1 staffing being requested.

Important Behavioral Disclosure

The individual exhibits severe behaviors, including self-injury (head hitting and head banging), biting, hitting, scratching, kicking, grabbing, and elopement.

These behaviors are not constant throughout the day; however, episodes do occur and can become physically intense.

The individual also enjoys participating in community outings, recreational activities, and therapeutic programs. Staff must remain calm, patient, and professional while following the established Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).

Training and support from the ABA team and BCBA are provided.

Available Shifts – Fixed Schedules

Applicants must be available for ALL listed days and hours of their selected shift. Current schedules cannot be modified.

Shift A – 40 Hours

• Sunday: 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM
• Monday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Shift B – 40 Hours

• Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Saturday: 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM
• Sunday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Shift C – 40 Hours

• Wednesday: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Thursday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Friday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM

Shift D – 32 Hours

• Sunday: 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM
• Monday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Tuesday: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Scheduling Requirements: Employees must maintain reliable attendance, remain flexible with future scheduling adjustments, and work additional hours or overtime when required, subject to applicable law. If another staff member calls out, employees are still expected to report for their own assigned shifts.

Hours listed are scheduled time ranges before unpaid meal periods. Applicable California overtime and meal-period laws apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, wiping, feeding, and personal hygiene.
• Implement approved behavioral interventions and safety protocols.
• Document behaviors, daily activities, and incidents.
• Support communication using an AAC device.
• Accompany the individual to recreational activities, therapy appointments, and community outings.
• Work collaboratively with DSPs, ABA staff, and the BCBA.
• Provide authorized transportation when needed, with mileage reimbursement.

Required Qualifications

• Group home experience required.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
• Comfortable managing severe behavioral episodes.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• DOJ background clearance and Live Scan.
• CPR certification, TB clearance, and required immunization documentation.
• Ability to work assigned schedules and assist with required staffing coverage.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.

Mandatory RBT Certification

Employees must obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within their initial 90-day probationary period as a condition of employment.

Extensions may be considered only under extraordinary circumstances with prior management approval.

Preferred Qualifications

• ABA and severe behavioral support experience
• CPI certification
• AAC experience
• DSP 1 and DSP 2 certifications
