Direct Support Professional-Children & Adults

Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team in LaPlata, MD! Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care and support to children and adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities
• Assist individuals with daily living activities including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility
• Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately
• Facilitate community integration activities and encourage social participation
• Administer medications and follow health care protocols as directed
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary care teams
• Promote individual independence, dignity, and self-advocacy in all interactions

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
• Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to obtain CPR, First Aid, and Medication Technician certifications
• Compassionate, dependable, and committed to person-centered care
