We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in daily living activities and promoting their independence. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing their quality of life and ensuring their safety and well-being.

Duties

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Provide patient care and monitor vital signs to ensure health and safety.
• Support individuals in community integration and participation in social activities.
• Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs and preferences.
• Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
• Assist with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
• Observe and document changes in clients' behavior or health status, reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function and emotional well-being, including memory care for those with Alzheimer's or dementia.
• Foster a supportive atmosphere by building trusting relationships with clients and their families.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years of experience providing support to individuals with special needs.
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques and caregiving best practices.
• Familiarity with working with individuals who have developmental disabilities, autism, or other special needs is highly desirable.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in nursing or home health care is a plus.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed for client mobility assistance.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
• A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines at all times.
