Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and aging-related needs. Duties

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
• Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
• Administer medications as prescribed, following care plans meticulously and documenting all medication administration activities.
• Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring proper nutrition tailored to individual dietary needs.
• Provide companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities that promote cognitive and emotional well-being, including Alzheimer's care, memory care, and activities for individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties within the residence or community setting.
• Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings using personal transportation assistance or agency-provided vehicles.
• Observe residents closely for signs of distress or changes in condition related to dementia, geriatrics, or other health issues such as hospice or home health needs; respond promptly with appropriate interventions like first aid or CPR when necessary.

Experience

• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of patient monitoring techniques, medication administration, and patient personal care assistance.
• Experience working with individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, dementia, or neurodevelopmental disorders is essential.
• Familiarity with care plans development and implementation to support individualized resident goals.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as Hoyer lift operation or HIPAA training are advantageous.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, team members, and healthcare providers.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and conduct manual handling tasks necessary for resident transfers and mobility support.

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
