Direct Support Professional

Job Overview

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide program services to our developmentally disabled (DD) client population and ensure person-centered services are provided continuously in the day program. As an entry level classification, this position does not require previous experience in serving the DD population.

Duties

• Provide supervision, support, and guidance to individuals through their daily routines.
• Assist client(s) with completion socialization and community participation.
• Help maintain medical, physical, mental health, and personal care needs, to include but not limited to: Nutrition, Exercise, Social Skills, Communication.
• Document client cooperation, activities, and behaviors to ensure health and safety of clients is maintained at all times.
• Monitor the safety of clients.
• Foster positive behavior at the day program and in the community.
• Assist with meal preparation and/or feeding.
• Provide support to clients to learn daily life skills.
• Monitor and document client activity to ensure information is accurate and consistent and maintains compliance with OISP.
• Provide personal care, toileting and/or hygiene assistance.
• Facilitate activities in small group settings on site or in the community.
• Encourage and foster clients' preferred hobbies and areas of interest.
• Transport individuals to and from programs, vocational habilitation sites, and recreational activities.
• Will complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Prior experience working with individuals with DD is highly preferred
• Complete and maintain CPR/First Aid/AED Certifications
• Complete and maintain DODD DSP training

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
