Direct Support Professional

Job Summary

Duties

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods
• Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings in accordance with HIPAA regulations and care plans
• Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication administration activities
• Prepare nutritious meals, assist with meal planning, and ensure proper food safety standards are maintained
• Support residents during community outings or appointments by providing personal transportation assistance and ensuring safety at all times
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, or hospice care support
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control standards
• Engage in patient monitoring activities such as observing for signs of distress or behavioral changes in individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities
• Document resident progress, incident reports, and communication notes clearly and accurately while respecting resident rights
• Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure comprehensive care delivery aligned with residents’ goals

Qualifications

• CMT, DDA, Mandt, CPR/First aid, Blood Bone Pathogen, Abuse & Neglect Certified
• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly preferred
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs measurement, and first aid/CPR certification is essential
• Experience working with individuals with autism, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of patient information is required
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members
• Valid driver’s license for assisting with personal transportation needs if applicable
• Compassionate attitude combined with patience and resilience to support diverse needs of residents across different age groups including geriatrics and individuals with disabilities

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week

Work Location: In person
