Direct Support Professional

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental, intellectual, or physical disabilities. Duties

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
• Support residents with mobility using patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any health changes or symptoms requiring attention
• Administer medication following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with cooking, ensuring dietary restrictions are followed accurately
• Maintain cleanliness of living spaces by performing regular cleaning tasks to promote a safe environment
• Support clients during community outings or appointments using personal transportation assistance when needed
• Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and resident rights policies
• Observe and report on patients’ condition, behavior, or any concerns related to dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or other neurodevelopmental disorders
• Follow safety protocols including first aid, CPR certification requirements, and emergency response procedures

Skills

• Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly valued
• Strong patient observation skills to detect changes in health status or behavior patterns
• Knowledge of medication administration, vital signs measurement, and patient monitoring techniques
• Familiarity with care plans tailored to individual needs such as dementia care, memory care, or hospice support
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with manual handling tasks involving residents with mobility challenges
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental delays, or neurodevelopmental disorders like autism is preferred
• Excellent communication skills for engaging effectively with clients, families, and team members
• Understanding of resident’s rights and confidentiality regulations such as HIPAA compliance
• Capable of assisting with ADLs including meal preparation, personal care assistance, and light housekeeping tasks
• Knowledge of emergency procedures including first aid and CPR certification is required for safety assurance

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16.0 – 40.0 per week
