Position Overview

We are seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals in both residential (AFL) and community-based settings. This role focuses on promoting independence, ensuring safety, and supporting meaningful community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily living support including hygiene, meal assistance, and household tasks
• Maintain consistent structure and routines to promote stability and well-being
• Support individuals in community activities (e.g., gym, volunteering, outings, errands)
• Provide verbal prompting, redirection, and supervision as needed
• Assist with meal monitoring and safe eating practices to reduce choking risks
• Monitor for changes in mood, health, or behavior and report appropriately
• Promote safety awareness in home and community environments (e.g., navigating streets, public settings)
• Support individuals in maintaining appropriate social interactions and personal boundaries
• Provide transportation and accompaniment to appointments, work, and activities
• Implement positive behavior supports, including redirection and de-escalation strategies
• Ensure documentation and compliance with care plans and agency standards

• Comfortable supporting individuals with behavioral needs and supervision requirements
• Ability to remain calm and supportive during moments of frustration or distress

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License & reliable transportation
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening
• Experience in IDD/behavioral health preferred (not required – training provided)
