Direct Support Professional

Safe Harbor Home Healthcare is looking for dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals in their homes and communities.

We know many DSPs balance work with another job, school, family, or other responsibilities. Our staff can select available shifts based on their availability, making this position a good fit for candidates looking for either full-time or part-time hours.

As a DSP, you will provide hands-on support based on the needs of the individual you are assigned to. This may include assistance with personal care, meals, household routines, appointments, community activities, and other day-to-day needs. An important part of the role is helping individuals maintain their independence while providing the support they need to remain safe and comfortable.

Previous DSP or caregiving experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are open to applicants who are new to the field and willing to complete the required training and certifications.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities will vary based on the needs of the individual you support and may include:

• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Help with meals, household routines, and other daily tasks.
• Follow the individual's care plan and established routines.
• Support individuals with appointments and community activities when needed.
• Assist with physical tasks or lifting when required.
• Observe and promptly report concerns, incidents, or changes involving the individual.
• Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful environment.
• Communicate professionally with individuals, families, coworkers, and managers.
• Follow Safe Harbor policies, procedures, and individual care plans.

What We're Looking For

Reliability is important in this role because the individuals we serve depend on their scheduled staff. We are looking for people who communicate well, take their scheduled shifts seriously, and are comfortable working with individuals who have different support needs.

You should be able to follow instructions and care plans, complete required documentation, and communicate promptly with your manager when an incident, concern, or change occurs during your shift.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have a valid state-issued ID or driver's license.
• Have a high school diploma or GED.
• Have a Social Security card or acceptable Social Security documentation.
• Have current DSP, CPR, and Medication Administration certifications, or be willing to complete the required certifications.
• Be able to reliably travel to the assigned client's home for scheduled shifts.

A driver's license, personal vehicle, and auto insurance are not required for every assignment. Some client assignments do not require staff to drive. For assignments that involve transporting a client, additional driving and insurance requirements may apply.

Schedule

Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available. Depending on current client needs, available shifts may include:

• Day shifts
• Evening shifts
• Night shifts
• Overnight shifts
• Weekday shifts
• Weekend shifts
• Staff can select from available shifts that fit their schedules, based on current openings and client needs.
