Direct Support Professional

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support a female client receiving services under the 1915(i) Community Supported Living waiver. This role involves providing person-centered, community-based support that promotes independence, safety, and a high quality of life within the home and local community.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, cooking, and household tasks.
• Monitor patient health and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Uphold client rights and ensure a respectful, dignified environment for all individuals.
• Provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting their social skills and independence.
• Maintain confidentiality of client information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including case managers and healthcare providers.
• Engage clients in recreational activities that enhance their quality of life and promote community involvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Must be 21 years of age with at least 1 year experience as a DSP
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs (preferred)
• Ability to pass background checks and required training (CPR, First Aid, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be female due to direct care needs of the client, in accordance with bona fide occupational qualification (BFOQ) provisions

Requirements

• Previous experience in 1915i Community Living Supports assisted living is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong understanding of resident rights and commitment to providing compassionate care.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of patient monitoring techniques is beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
• Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
