Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will empower residents to live as independently as possible while ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help foster a positive environment where residents feel valued, respected, and supported in their daily lives. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities, seniors, or those requiring specialized care.

Duties

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes, and reporting findings according to care plans
  • Administer medications accurately following HIPAA guidelines and facility protocols
  • Support residents with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and ensuring nutritional needs are met
  • Operate patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and other manual handling equipment safely and effectively
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and adhering to infection control standards
  • Document all care activities, patient observations, and communication clearly in resident records

Experience

Candidates should have prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings. Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or dementia is highly valued. Familiarity with care plans, medication administration, patient monitoring techniques such as vital signs measurement, and resident rights is essential. Additional experience in Alzheimer's care, memory care programs, hospice or geriatrics enhances your ability to provide specialized support. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in patient personal care assistance, use of patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts, CPR certification, first aid knowledge, and experience with HIPAA compliance. A background in caregiving roles involving heavy lifting, manual handling, assisting with ADLs, meal preparation, personal transportation assistance, and home & community care is preferred. Strong communication skills for client interaction and teamwork are crucial for success in this role.
