Direct Support Professional

Responsibilities:

• Support individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and mobility, while promoting independence, respecting individual choices, and maintaining dignity. Encourage individuals to complete tasks to the best of their abilities, providing assistance and guidance as needed.
• Implement individualized support strategies that encourage positive behaviors, emotional regulation, and the development of coping skills while promoting independence and respecting each individual's needs and preferences.
• Provide transportation and support individuals in accessing medical appointments, community resources, recreational activities, and other destinations that promote independence and community participation.
• Provide medication reminders and assistance with medication routines, as authorized and permitted by applicable policies and regulations, while encouraging individuals to manage their medications as independently as possible.
• Monitor and document individual progress toward personal goals, independent living skills, and community integration to support ongoing progress and individualized service planning.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or behavioral health needs is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques is beneficial.
• Prior experience in home or community care settings, including Supported Living Services, caregiving, or providing assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), is preferred.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients and team members.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
• Education Requirement: High school diploma or higher. Proof of education must be provided.
• Driver Requirements: Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle for safe transportation duties and compliance.
• Background Clearance Required: Candidates must successfully complete and pass the required pre-employment background check and clearance process prior to beginning employment.
