Responsibilities

• Provide direct support during center-based programming, recreational activities, and community outings.
• Assist participants with personal care, hygiene, mobility, and health-related needs in accordance with their Individualized Service Plans (ISPs).
• Encourage the development of daily living, communication, social, vocational, and community integration skills.
• Provide transportation in and out of the community.
• Accurately document participant progress, daily activities, and incidents, and communicate effectively with supervisors and the interdisciplinary team.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for participants and staff.
• Respond professionally to behavioral challenges using approved support strategies.
• Follow all New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) regulations, agency policies, HIPAA requirements, and safety protocols.
• Complete all required trainings, including CPR/AED, First Aid, and other agency-mandated certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to safely lift, transfer, and assist participants weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Compassion, patience, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
• Commitment to respecting residents’ rights and promoting dignity in all interactions.
