Direct Support Professional

Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will empower clients to live as independently as possible by offering personalized support in various settings, including in home, group homes, assisted living facilities, and community-based programs.

Duties

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
• Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately while respecting residents' rights and confidentiality under HIPAA regulations.
• Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning, cooking, and cleanup to promote healthy eating habits.
• Provide companionship and engage clients in recreational activities to enhance mental well-being, especially for those with dementia or neurodevelopmental disorders.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, sanitation of equipment, and ensuring adherence to infection control standards.
• Document all care activities thoroughly in client records.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred and recognize signs of distress or deterioration.
• Knowledge of patient personal care assistance techniques.
• Certifications such as CPR/First Aid are required; additional training in behavioral and social emotional support with adults in I/DD population.
• Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
• Ability to lift up to 50+ Lbs
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is advantageous.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 40.0 per week
