Overview
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health challenges. This position involves providing support in daily living activities, fostering independence, and ensuring the safety and well-being of clients in various settings, including group homes and community-based environments. The DSP is dedicated to promoting a positive and nurturing atmosphere while adhering to best practices and regulatory standards.

Duties

• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
• Provide patient observation to monitor clients' physical and emotional well-being.
• Support individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities by implementing personalized care plans.
• Facilitate social interactions and community engagement to promote inclusion.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment in group homes or community settings.
• Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health status to supervisors.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality and privacy.
• Assist with mobility needs, including lifting clients when necessary.

Skills

• Strong ability in patient observation to identify changes in client behavior or health.
• Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or those requiring long-term care.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality.
• Proficiency in medication administration protocols.
• Familiarity with home community care practices and group home operations.
• Skills in meal preparation that cater to dietary needs of clients.
• Physical capability to lift clients safely as required.
