Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Adult Day Program

Job Overview
Dreamers and Believers Inc. is hiring Direct Support Professional (DSP) for our Adult Day Program in Los Angeles. You'll support adults with developmental disabilities in a structured day program and community-based setting, with a focus on personal growth, community integration, and vocational readiness.

Pay: $18.50 to $20.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Occasional weekend events, scheduled one to two months in advance.
Mileage stipend: $40 per pay period for transporting participants in your own vehicle

Duties

• Support and mentor individuals in areas such as independent living skills, social development, and workforce preparation
• Assist with implementing person-centered plans that promote self-advocacy and independence
• Facilitate daily activities that align with community integration and vocational goals
• Provide instruction on workplace behavior, communication, and job readiness
• Encourage participation in recreational, educational, and skill-building opportunities
• Document daily progress and communicate with interdisciplinary teams and family members as needed

Requirements

• Must have reliable transportation and a valid California driver’s license
• Must have proof of current auto insurance
• Must be able to transport clients Monday through Friday for community outings, and program activities
• Must be able to pass a DOJ/FBI background check and drug screening
• Must complete CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire (if not already certified)
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs and assist with physical support when needed
• Must maintain professional conduct and confidentiality in all settings

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; additional training or certifications in disability services is a plus
• Ability to educate, support, and encourage adults with varying support needs
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
• Dependable, punctual, patient, professional, and able to follow directions
• Able to participate in community outings and program activities
• Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred
