Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Duties

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, meal preparation, and medication administration
• Support residents with mobility and transfers using manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods
• Monitor health status by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams
• Implement and follow individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia, Alzheimer’s, memory care, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental disabilities
• Maintain a safe environment through cleaning, sanitation, and ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
• Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community outings using personal transportation methods
• Document observations, care provided, and resident progress accurately in compliance with healthcare standards

Requirements

• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly preferred
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs effectively
• Experience with medication administration and understanding of care plans is advantageous
• Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or manual handling are a plus
• Ability to assist with ADLs including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with patience and compassion
• Strong communication skills for engaging with clients, families, and healthcare teams
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, patient transfers using Hoyer lifts or other equipment, and manual handling tasks safely
• Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders or disabilities is desirable
• Commitment to maintaining a safe environment through cleaning routines and infection control practices

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
