Position Summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. DSPs are responsible for implementing Individual Person Plans (IPP), Individual Service Plans (ISP), and Behavior Plans (BP), while ensuring compliance with all State of California regulations.

This role requires compassion, reliability, and a commitment to protecting the dignity and rights of each individual served.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTraining & Professional Development

• Complete and maintain all required State-mandated trainings within 90 days of employment, including:
• Medication Administration
• CPR/First Aid
• Managing Aggressive Behaviors (MAB)
• California Care Licensing Division (CCLD) required trainings
• Attend required meetings and ongoing training sessions
• Complete annual trainings related to IPP, ISP, and BP
• Perform physical activities lasting 15 minutes to one hour as needed

Individual Support & Care

• Implement individual program and behavioral plans
• Support participation in recreational, social, and community activities
• Protect and promote individual rights
• Treat all individuals with dignity and respect
• Work assigned schedules reliably and communicate scheduling changes appropriately

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

• Administer medications and monitor for side effects
• Observe and report behavioral or health changes
• Assist with grooming, dressing, toileting, handwashing, and meals
• Prepare nutritious meals based on individual preferences and plans
• Encourage participation in meal preparation and household activities
• Maintain a clean and organized residence
• Teach and support development of daily living skills (laundry, chores, cleaning, etc.)

Communication & Reporting

• Observe and report injuries, bruising, or changes in emotional/physical status
• Complete written incident reports as required
• Report medical-related incidents immediately
• Maintain confidentiality
• Communicate purchasing needs related to individuals’ personal care
• Represent Skye Residential professionally with families, service coordinators, and state officials

Teamwork

• Assist with preparation for annual Individual Person Planning meetings
• Collaborate respectfully with coworkers
• Support team members during behavioral challenges

Documentation

• Accurately complete:
• Individual plan and behavior plan data
• Activity logs
• Health tracking (BP, blood sugar, weight, bowel movements, fluid intake)
• Medication Administration Records (MAR)
• Communication logs
• Complete documentation in a timely manner
• Clock in/out properly and follow time-off procedures

Safety

• Assist individuals with safe vehicle entry/exit
• Supervise meals for individuals at risk of choking
• Report unsafe conditions immediately
• Follow all safety protocols

Job Requirements

• Valid California ID
• Fingerprint clearance
• Background check

Preferred Qualifications

• DSP Year 1 and Year 2 Training completed
• Availability to work weekends and holidays

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
