Direct Support Professional (DSP)

NOW HIRING: DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP)

Location: Hyattsville, Maryland

We are looking for a MALE, FLUENT SPANISH-SPEAKING Direct Support Professional to provide one-on-one support to an individual receiving DDA services.

This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, patient, compassionate, and enjoys helping individuals participate in their community while building independence and daily living skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Male Spanish speaker
• Fluent in Spanish
• Must have an active, valid driver’s license
• Must have access to a reliable personal vehicle
• Comfortable providing transportation to community activities and appointments
• Must be able to complete a background check
• Must complete required Maryland DDA training
• CPR & First Aid certification required
• CMT (Certified Medication Technician) certification required
• Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred

COMMUNITY & TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT

The DSP will assist the individual with participating in activities and getting out into the community, including transportation to:

• School/job site
• The mall
• parks and recreational activities
• Community events and activities
• Appointments and other approved destinations

The DSP must be comfortable driving the individual safely and responsibly using their personal vehicle.

DAILY LIVING & PERSONAL CARE

The DSP will provide support with activities of daily living, including:

• Morning and evening hygiene routines
• Getting dressed and preparing for school
• Personal care and grooming
• Medication support as permitted by training/certification
• Meal and routine support
• Promoting independence with daily living skills
• Providing appropriate supervision and safety support

GENERAL DSP RESPONSIBILITIES

The Direct Support Professional will:

• Provide person-centered support based on the individual’s needs and goals
• Encourage independence and community involvement
• Assist with daily routines and activities
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
• Support socialization and participation in community activities
• Follow the individual’s service plan and established care guidelines
• Complete required daily documentation and service notes accurately
• Communicate appropriately with the individual’s family, care team, and supervisors
• Report changes in behavior, health, safety, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor
• Maintain professional boundaries and protect the individual’s privacy and dignity
• Follow all applicable DDA policies, procedures, and safety requirements

Before beginning services, selected candidates must be able to provide/complete:
