POSITION SUMMARY

Essential Human Services is seeking dependable, compassionate, and professional Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person-centered support to individuals in their homes and communities. DSPs assist individuals with daily living skills, community participation, independence, safety, and achieving goals identified in their Individual Support Plan (ISP).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide person-centered support based on individual needs and ISP goals.
• Assist with daily living, household, meal preparation, and independent living skills.
• Support individuals with community activities, appointments, recreation, and social opportunities.
• Encourage independence, communication, decision-making, and self-advocacy.
• Promote health, safety, dignity, and respect.
• Transport individuals to approved activities and appointments as required.
• Follow individual-specific plans, agency policies, and procedures.
• Complete accurate and timely service documentation.
• Report incidents, concerns, or significant changes to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Complete all required training.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Must be able to safely transport individuals.
• Must maintain an acceptable driving record.
• Must successfully complete required background checks, clearances, and training.
• Must be professional, compassionate, and reliable.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and complete required documentation.
• Previous human services or DSP experience preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and remain physically active as required.
• Ability to provide appropriate physical support within assigned duties and required training.
