Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity.
• Support medication administration following prescribed protocols and document all care activities accurately.
• Monitor residents’ vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure health stability.
• Provide personal care in accordance with individual care plans while respecting residents’ rights and preferences.
• Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to foster socialization and well-being.
• Practice safe patient lifting techniques and manual handling procedures to prevent injury for both residents and staff.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment by assisting with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning resident areas and common spaces.

Skills

• Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or residential care homes is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, geriatrics, and behavior management techniques.
• Ability to operate standard passenger vehicles safely for client transportation or community outings.
• Familiarity with medication administration protocols and resident’s rights regulations.
• Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork within multidisciplinary settings.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or cognitive impairments is preferred.
• Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, safe patient lifting practices, and home & community care experience are advantageous.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
