What Does a Direct Support Professional Do?

As a DSP, you'll support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they build independence, learn new skills, and enjoy everyday life.

Your days might include:

Helping participants learn everyday skills like cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and personal care.

Getting out into the community for shopping, activities, appointments, and fun outings.
Encouraging participants to work toward their personal goals and celebrate their accomplishments.
Providing companionship, emotional support, and a positive, encouraging environment.
Assisting with medications and daily routines.
Maintaining a safe, comfortable, and welcoming home.
Working alongside a supportive team to provide individualized care and complete daily documentation.

Some days you'll be teaching, some days you'll be learning, and every day you'll have the opportunity to make a difference.

No previous caregiving experience required! We welcome individuals who are new to the field and excited to learn.

Position Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

Valid driver's license and reliable, registered, and insured transportation.
Ability to successfully complete required background checks.
CPR/First Aid and Assistance with Medications certifications (guidance on obtaining certifications provided).
Availability to work assigned shifts, including weekends or holidays as scheduled.
