Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Direct Support Paraprofessional----Responsible for the daily living skills for individual

assigned to Intensive In-Home Support in accordance with existing rules and regulations as outlined in agency policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

 High School Diploma or equivalent

 Must have one year’s experience, or life history experience working with the population being served. (Must be Documented).

 Must have minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities related to clinical skills experience in the care, training, habilitation and development of Intellectual disability, developmentally disabled,

physically challenged of adults or children (i.e.... social skills, health and safety skills, sensory stimulation, gross/fine motor skills, and behavioral problem-solving skills.

 Certification in CPR, Human Rights, HCBS Rights, First Aid OSHA, TOVA, Person-Centered

Training, and Medication Administration, Serious Incident

 Valid VA Driver’s license and proof of insurance

 Must have satisfactory Criminal Background Check received from OBI Dept.

 Must have satisfactory Central Registry Check received from State Department

 Must have satisfactory OIG Check received from the Department of Human Services.

 Must demonstrate a working knowledge of the policies and procedures that are applicable to his specific job or position.
