Direct Support Professional Dual DIagnosis

Job Overview

As a Peer Support - Direct Support Professional, you’ll help people with dual diagnosis (mental health and intellectual developmental disabilities) build on their strengths and pursue goals. You’ll offer practical, respectful support grounded in lived experience, cultural awareness, and each person’s choices. This role works alongside individuals and care teams to encourage connection, stability, and self-advocacy.

Duties

• Build trusting relationships through clear client communication and respectful work with culturally diverse communities.
• Support people experiencing behavioral health challenges
• Support people with IDD in pursuing goals, overcoming obstacles, and living the life of their choosing
• Use crisis management and crisis intervention approaches to respond calmly, support immediate safety, and connect individuals with appropriate care.
• Document services in electronic health record (EHR) systems while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Requirements

• Strong communication, boundaries, and commitment to confidentiality are essential.
• Relevant experience in recovery peer support, social work, behavioral health, mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Experience working with individuals with mental health conditions and intellectual developmental disabilities a must
• Familiarity with mentoring, harm reduction, crisis response, and EHR systems is helpful.
• Ability to work respectfully across cultures and support people without judgment is important.
• This position will require assistance with personal care

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
