Program Overview – Steps to Success

Steps to Success is ICW’s adult day program for adults with autism and other disabilities. Through engaging lessons, hands-on activities, and community experiences, participants develop independent living, social, and job skills. We encourage individuals to explore their interests, build confidence, make choices, and become more involved in their community.

Are you someone who enjoys helping others learn, build confidence, and become more independent? Steps to Success is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Program Assistant to support adults with autism and other disabilities in our adult day program.

At Steps to Success, learning is an adventure! We help individuals build independent living, social, and work skills while exploring their interests and connecting with their communities. The fun also includes trips to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, the Heinz History Center, and Altoona Curve baseball games—just to name a few! As part of our team, you’ll help turn hands-on activities and exciting outings into opportunities to build confidence, friendships, and greater independence.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with interactive lessons, educational games, cooking activities, crafts, and other hands-on learning experiences.
• Support individuals during facility activities and community outings.
• Encourage participation, communication, problem-solving, and independence while respecting each individual’s choices and abilities.
• Provide guidance, encouragement, and assistance based on individual support needs and program direction.
• Help prepare materials and maintain a welcoming, organized, and safe environment.
• Communicate observations, accomplishments, and concerns to program leadership.
• Assist with activity documentation and other program responsibilities as assigned.
• Work closely with staff to create positive, meaningful experiences for the individuals we support.

• A commitment to encouraging independence and recognizing individual strengths.
• Experience in disability services, education, caregiving, or a related field is a plus but NOT required. We are willing to train the right person.
