1:1 Part-Time Support Staff Needed – Syracuse NY (phl/bet)

A 31 year old Male in the Syracuse area is looking for a Direct Support Professional to assist him with, being active in his community and helping teach daily living skills (cooking, housekeeping etc. )

He enjoys whittling wood, playing video games and watching horror movies.. He also enjoys cooking, bowling and thrift shopping.

The ideal candidate is creative and engaging, active and patient, and willing to travel to different locations. The ideal candidate must also be willing to provide verbal prompting and encouragement to do the task at hand (carry in your groceries, put on your deodorant and clean clothes). The ideal candidate should have experience with working with people that may have occasional difficulties regulating their anxiety. If the recipient gets upset, the ideal candidate would be able to remain calm, ask if the person is okay and if they need to be done for the day. Sometimes the recipient needs to be left alone when he is upset.

This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services at the agency.

Hours and days of work: He would like to have someone Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 10-4pm

Starting pay: Starting pay is $19.25/hour and increases with years of relevant experience.

Location: Syracuse, NY

• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Effective communication and organizational skills required.
• Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
• Reliable transportation to arrive to job site at scheduled time.
• Experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities preferred.
• Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by Indera's technology policy.
