Direct Support Professional (Weekend)

Job Summary

Duties

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort
• Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals promptly
• Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines to ensure safety and compliance
• Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with care plans and dietary restrictions, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards
• Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning tasks and sanitation procedures
• Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies
• Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to promote mental well-being and community involvement
• Follow established protocols for emergency response including CPR and first aid when necessary
• Collaborate with team members on individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s unique needs, including dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism spectrum disorder, or other disabilities

Skills

• Proven experience in group home settings, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care environments
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques and vital signs monitoring for effective patient care management
• Strong understanding of medication administration procedures and HIPAA privacy standards
• Ability to perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and meal preparation efficiently
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorder or memory care needs
• Certifications such as CPR, first aid, or nursing assistant credentials are mandatory; willingness to obtain necessary certifications are required
• Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams including social workers and healthcare providers
