Position Summary

As a Direct Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting youth in a residential setting. You will help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing environment while encouraging independence, promoting positive life skills, and responding to each youth's individual needs with professionalism and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, supervision, and support to youth in a residential setting.
• Build positive, respectful, and professional relationships with youth.
• Assist with daily routines, meal preparation, housekeeping, and life skills development.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment.
• Complete daily documentation, progress notes, and incident reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Support and implement individualized care plans.
• Respond appropriately to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and organizational procedures.
• Administer medication in accordance with organizational policies and training (where applicable).
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, coworkers, and external service providers.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
• Clear Child Abuse Registry Check.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Valid Class 5F Driver's License.

Assets

• Experience working with youth or vulnerable populations.
• Education in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
• NVCI Certified

Schedule:

o Day shifts

o Evening shifts

o Overnight shifts

o Weekends

o Holidays as required
