Duties

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation
• Support behavioral health and behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and emotional well-being
• Facilitate communication using various methods such as American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication tools
• Provide transportation and driving support for appointments, community outings, or recreational activities
• Collect data on progress, behaviors, and service delivery to ensure accurate documentation and reporting
• Administer medication following prescribed protocols and document administration accurately
• Engage in caregiving tasks that promote independence, social skills, and community integration
• Collaborate with families, educators, social workers, and healthcare professionals to develop personalized care plans
• Assist with childcare responsibilities when applicable, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children with disabilities
• Support individuals in navigating their environments safely while encouraging social interactions and participation in community events

Experience

• Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly preferred
• Home and community care experience demonstrating ability to support diverse needs in various settings
• Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices is advantageous
• Familiarity with behavior management techniques and data collection methods for tracking progress
• Strong communication skills including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn are valued
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for transportation responsibilities
• Experience in caregiving roles involving assisting with ADLs or providing child care is beneficial
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team committed to person-centered support
