Director Accounting

DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTING / CONTROLLER | PUBLIC LIFE SCIENCES Greater Boston | Onsite $200K+ Base + Bonus + Equity A publicly traded life sciences company in the Greater Boston area is seeking a Director of Accounting / Controller to join its finance leadership team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader seeking broad responsibility across corporate accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting, and financial operations.

The Role

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including general ledger, consolidations, and financial reporting
• Oversee accounting for R&D activities and other industry-specific transactions
• Support SEC reporting, technical accounting, and SOX compliance
• Manage complex accounting matters involving equity, stock-based compensation, debt, and other financial instruments
• Lead external audit activities and strengthen accounting policies, controls, and processes
• Partner with senior leadership across Finance and other functional areas
• Drive process improvements and support the continued development of the accounting organization

Ideal Profile:

• Public accounting background required; Big 4 preferred
• Biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry experience required
• Strong U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and technical accounting background
• Public company and SOX experience
• Experience with complex accounting transactions and financial reporting
• CPA preferred
• Hands-on, proactive accounting leader with strong communication and leadership skills
• Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
