Director, AI & Machine Learning

For our client, we are seeking a Director, AI & Machine Learning to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space.

This leader will shape enterprise AI and machine learning strategy across research and business functions, with a strong emphasis on scalable technical execution in a regulated environment. The role will guide the design, validation, and adoption of advanced ML solutions that improve data quality, accelerate delivery, and support innovation. It will also partner closely with senior stakeholders to align governance, architecture, and talent strategy with organizational goals.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $242,543 – $328,146 annually

Responsibilities

• Develop and guide multi-department AI/ML strategy in alignment with R&D and business objectives.
• Direct the design, validation, and production adoption of advanced ML solutions.
• Establish scalable ML architecture and integration patterns across departments.
• Set priorities for MLOps investments to enhance data quality and reduce delivery times.
• Implement AI/ML governance standards while balancing innovation with compliance risks.
• Recruit, develop, and retain ML engineering talent to foster a culture of excellence.
• Communicate technical strategies and roadmaps effectively to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Doctorate or Master's degree with extensive experience in AI & ML.
• Proven leadership in AI/ML technical strategy and architecture.
• Deep knowledge of production systems and scalable AI/ML solutions.
• Expertise in MLOps and data lifecycle operations management.
• Experience in governance and responsible AI practices in regulated environments.
• Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing teams.
