What they need
Provident Widows & Orphans Foundation
Director & Client Advocate
Flexible 5-Days Per Week | In-Person | Addison, Texas
About Provident Widows and Orphans Foundation
Provident Widows and Orphans Foundation is a Christ-centered nonprofit ministry dedicated to walking alongside young widows and orphans who have experienced the loss of a spouse or parent. We believe caring for widows and orphans is not simply charitable work, it is a biblical calling from James 1:27 and an opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ daily through practical, compassionate service.
PWOF offers free financial, tax, and legal services through Christ-centered professional advice and zealous advocacy during a season that can feel overwhelming, confusing, and isolating. Our goal is for every widow and orphan we serve to know that they are not walking through this season alone.
A Ministry-Minded Role
The Director & Client Advocate will coordinate professional services and communicate directly with clients as a person they come to know, trust, and can call when they need help. The Director & Client Advocate will lead the day-to-day operations of the Foundation as a ministry, developing meaningful relationships with the clients while making sure no task falls through the cracks.
This position is not simply a client service or administrative job. The clients we serve are navigating grief while simultaneously facing financial decisions, estate matters, tax questions, paperwork, changes in their household, and responsibilities they may never have handled before. The Director & Client Advocate will be the consistent person walking alongside them through that process.
The person in this position should genuinely feel called to serve widows and orphans and understand that relationships, compassion, prayer, consistency, and Christian service are central to the work of PWOF.
The Director will maintain regular communication with widows, attend meetings, coordinate professional resources, participate in Foundation events, manage donor and fundraising activities, maintain church and community relationships, and oversee the ongoing administrative needs of the Foundation.
What Success Looks Like
A major focus of this position will be creating continuity. Widows should know who to contact and have someone who understands their situation, remembers what they are working through, follows up consistently, and helps coordinate the next step when questions or needs arise. Widows should receive regular follow-up rather than having to initiate every conversation themselves. They should feel that PWOF understands what they are going through and that someone is actively helping them navigate financial questions, paperwork, professional referrals, and other practical needs.
The Director will take ownership of PWOF's day-to-day operations so that outreach, follow-ups, events, donor activities, administrative responsibilities, and routine questions are handled consistently.
Above all, success means that the widows and orphans PWOF serves feel cared for, remembered, prayed for, and supported. PWOF is explicitly a Christ-centered ministry. The Director & Client Advocate must be in agreement with the PWOF statement of faith, provided during the application process.
The successful candidate must:
- Have a personal and active Christian faith.
- Be actively involved in a local Christian church.
- Be comfortable praying with and encouraging widows when appropriate.
- Provide a spiritual reference from a pastor or church leader who can speak to the candidate's faith, character, and involvement in the church.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a genuine desire to serve widows and orphans with compassion, patience, and respect.
- Be warm, personable, patient, trustworthy, and an excellent listener.
- Be highly organized and capable of managing multiple people, projects, events, and follow-up items at the same time.
- Be proactive and able to recognize what needs to be done without waiting for every task to be assigned.
- Communicate clearly and professionally by phone, email, and in person.
- Have strong attention to detail, a self-starting mindset and disciplined follow-through.
- Have basic knowledge of and willingness to continue learning about financial, tax, estate, and other practical issues that commonly affect widows.
- Be willing to occasionally travel short distances for meetings, events, or visits with those we serve.
- Preferably hold a bachelor's degree.
Schedule & Location
This position is expected to be 5-days per week with flexibility to reasonably build your schedule around your family needs. The position will primarily work in person from our office located in Addison, Texas. Occasional flexibility may be necessary depending on the needs of those we serve and scheduled events.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation will be based on the candidate's experience and qualifications. Medical insurance and PTO available upon hire.
Our goal is for every widow and orphan we serve to feel that they have someone walking alongside them who cares about them personally, remembers their situation, and is committed to helping them move forward. If you are a faithful Christian who feels called to serve widows and orphans and wants your work to have a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of others, we would love to hear from you.
