Director (Convention)

About the role

Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan invites applications from highly experienced, capable and results-oriented professionals for the position of Director (Convention) to lead and oversee the planning, coordination and execution of the 24th Teochew International Convention, scheduled to be held in December 2027. The successful candidate will play a pivotal leadership role in ensuring the successful delivery of this major international convention, working closely with the organising committee, stakeholders, sponsors, service providers and other relevant parties.

Key responsibilities

• Support and oversee the overall planning, organisation and execution of the convention.
• Coordinate and manage various working committees, vendors, sponsors and other stakeholders.
• Oversee logistics, programme coordination, hospitality, protocol and other key aspects of convention management.
• Monitor project progress, manage resources and resolve operational challenges effectively.
• Ensure that all preparations and activities are carried out professionally and within the stipulated timelines and budget.

About you

• A degree from a recognised institution.
• Substantial experience in planning and managing large-scale international conventions or major international events, with a proven track record of successful execution.
• Strong leadership, project management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently, lead teams and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Effective bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese, both written and spoken.
• Proficiency in Teochew, including the ability to speak and understand the dialect, would be an advantage.
