Director, Engineering - Cloud Detection Platform (Remote)

For our client, we are seeking a Director, Engineering - Cloud Detection Platform (Remote) to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This leader will own the strategy and execution for a cloud-based detection platform that supports large-scale, customer-facing security services. The role will guide engineering managers and senior engineers while driving reliability, latency, and cost-effective operation across detection workflows. It will also partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to shape roadmap priorities, improve architecture, and establish safe release guardrails.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $195,000 – $290,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year strategy and roadmap for the cloud detection platform
• Lead and develop teams of managers and senior engineers
• Ensure reliability, low latency, and cost-effectiveness of detection rule execution
• Drive evolution toward a unified multi-engine detection architecture
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritize roadmap commitments
• Build safe shipping guardrails for detection content
• Manage escalations and cross-team dependencies
• Drive annual operating and organizational planning

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• 5+ years managing engineering teams
• 2+ years managing managers
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems
• Strong architectural judgment and decision-making skills
• Operational excellence in customer-facing services
• Excellent communication skills across all levels
• Experience with AI technologies in engineering processes
