Director, Enterprise Program Management Office (PMO)

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Director, Enterprise Program Management Office (PMO) to lead the governance and execution of a portfolio of strategic, cross-functional initiatives across the organization. This highly visible role will partner closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Finance, and functional leaders to ensure key initiatives are effectively prioritized, managed, and delivering measurable financial and operational value.

The ideal candidate combines strong PMO and portfolio leadership with business and financial acumen. This individual will understand how to evaluate business cases, challenge assumptions, identify risks and dependencies, measure ROI and value realization, and hold stakeholders accountable for results.

This is a business-focused enterprise PMO role, not an IT or systems implementation leadership position.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead governance and oversight of a portfolio of complex, enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
• Establish and continuously improve PMO standards, methodologies, governance, and reporting practices.
• Coordinate cross-functional programs and manage priorities, timelines, risks, issues, and interdependencies.
• Partner with Finance to evaluate business cases, ROI, budgets, forecasts, capital investments, and value realization.
• Monitor program performance against financial, operational, and strategic objectives.
• Develop executive dashboards, KPIs, scorecards, and portfolio reporting to provide visibility into performance and results.
• Challenge assumptions and identify gaps between expected and actual performance, driving corrective actions with business leaders.
• Facilitate executive portfolio reviews and communicate key risks, recommendations, and results to senior leadership.
• Drive accountability among initiative owners for committed milestones and business outcomes.
• Support enterprise transformation and change management across functions, business units, and geographic locations.
• Prepare executive-level presentations and reporting for senior leadership and Board-level discussions.
• Partner with external consultants and vendors supporting strategic initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Operations, Engineering, or related discipline; MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in PMO leadership, program/portfolio management, enterprise transformation, business operations, strategy, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience leading a portfolio of multiple complex, cross-functional strategic initiatives.
• Strong understanding of PMO governance, program methodologies, risk management, prioritization, and executive reporting.
• Strong business and financial acumen, including experience with budgets, forecasts, business cases, ROI, KPIs, and value realization.
• Experience working directly with executive leadership and driving accountability across functions without direct authority.
• Ability to identify and manage program risks, dependencies, competing priorities, and performance gaps.
• Strong executive communication, presentation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience developing executive dashboards and portfolio performance reporting.
• PMP or comparable certification preferred.
• Experience within manufacturing, industrial, chemicals, life sciences, consumer products, or other operationally intensive environments preferred.
