Director, Forward Deployed Researcher - Data as a Service

For our client, we are seeking a Director, Forward Deployed Researcher - Data as a Service to join the team of a leader in the Consumer Technology space.

This leader will guide a high-performing, customer-facing technical team that helps translate advanced AI capabilities into practical solutions for strategic accounts. The role blends people leadership, technical depth, and cross-functional execution in a fast-moving consumer technology environment. You will partner closely with go-to-market leadership to shape deal strategy, improve delivery quality, and strengthen the team’s operational cadence. This is a player-coach position suited to someone who can lead from the front while building scalable processes and developing top technical talent.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $228,000 – $403,200 annually

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, and develop the forward deployed research team
• Set and maintain the technical bar for specifications and customer deliverables
• Own SE capacity planning and partner with AE leadership on deal strategy
• Establish team processes and playbooks for knowledge sharing
• Lead technical conversations on strategic accounts and solution design
• Serve as an escalation point for complex customer situations

Qualifications

• 8+ years in applied ML, AI solutions engineering, or technical presales roles
• 5+ years managing technical teams, preferably in presales or solutions engineering
• Strong expertise in frontier AI concepts like LLMs and training data pipelines
• Proven track record in hiring and developing technical talent
• Experience with revenue or pipeline goals in a GTM organization
• Excellent communication skills for coaching and collaboration
• B.S. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
